The meeting between the Government Pricing Commission and representatives of the pharmaceutical sector is beginning.<\/b> Ilona Kokiashvili, head of the Association of Pharmaceutical Companies, suggests that the discussion will focus on planned changes to the reference pricing regulations<\/b> for medicines.<\/p>\n
According to Kokiashvili, prices for most medications intended for chronic patients are already regulated at this stage. She added that a certain “gap” (or leftover portion) of medications remains, which, according to the plan, is to be brought under reference price regulation.<\/p>\n
The head of the industry association emphasized that under state regulation, companies do not have the ability to increase prices. “When a price is regulated, we have no right to sell the medication even one tetri more than the set price,”<\/b> Ilona Kokiashvili explained before the meeting with government officials.<\/p>\n
When asked whether there is room for further price reductions, sector representatives state they expect “the imposition of new regulations.” Regarding specific figures, Kokiashvili refrained from making early predictions, as prices are determined based on a specific formula. “We cannot say in advance what price might be set for these medications because it is a reference-based, special formula used to calculate the price,”<\/b> she noted.<\/p>\n
