According to a new systematic review and meta-analysis published in <i data-path-to-node=\"1\" data-index-in-node=\"230\">JAMA Pediatrics<\/i>, which includes 153 longitudinal studies and 18,933 participants, the frequent use of digital devices poses certain risks.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\"><b data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Research Findings<\/b><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\">The study showed that digital activities have varying impacts on children&#8217;s mental and behavioral development. Social media use is most strongly associated with serious issues, such as depression, tendencies toward self-harm, behavioral disorders, and substance use, which is particularly evident in adolescents; additionally, social media is linked to lower academic performance.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">Regarding video games, the results are mixed: on one hand, they increase the risk of aggression and impulsive behavior, but on the other hand, researchers found that games to some extent improve children&#8217;s attention and cognitive processes.
