{"id":17017,"date":"2026-04-22T11:56:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T07:56:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/medscriptum.org\/?p=17017"},"modified":"2026-04-22T13:23:55","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T09:23:55","slug":"geostat-has-published-adjusted-2024-census-data-3-929-581-people-live-in-georgia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medscriptum.org\/en\/geostat-has-published-adjusted-2024-census-data-3-929-581-people-live-in-georgia\/","title":{"rendered":"Geostat has published adjusted 2024 census data: 3,929,581 people live in Georgia."},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-path-to-node=\"2\"><span class=\"\">Geostat has published the final results of the <\/span><b class=\"\" data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"47\">2024 General Population Census<\/b><span class=\"\">,<\/span><span class=\"\"> according to which the population of Georgia stands at <\/span><b class=\"\" data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"134\">3,929,581<\/b><span class=\"\">.<\/span><span class=\"\"> This figure is <\/span><b class=\"\" data-path-to-node=\"2\" data-index-in-node=\"160\">0.4% higher<\/b><span class=\"\"> than the preliminary data released in June of last year.<\/span><span class=\"\"> The census,<\/span><span class=\"\"> which was conducted using modern digital methods,<\/span><span class=\"\"> covered all persons permanently residing in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\"><span class=\"\">Out of the total number,<\/span><span class=\"\"> there are <\/span><b class=\"\" data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"35\">3,672,581<\/b><span class=\"\"> Georgian citizens,<\/span><span class=\"\"> while the share of foreign citizens permanently residing in the country accounts for <\/span><b class=\"\" data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"149\">6.6%<\/b><span class=\"\"> (257,<\/span><span class=\"\">000 people).<\/span><span class=\"\"> In accordance with international methodology,<\/span><span class=\"\"> the census reflects the actual picture\u2014how many people are de facto living within the territory of the country,<\/span><span class=\"\"> regardless of their legal status.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4\"><span class=\"\">The data shows that women outnumber men,<\/span><span class=\"\"> accounting for <\/span><b class=\"\" data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"56\">52%<\/b><span class=\"\"> of the population (2,<\/span><span class=\"\">048,<\/span><span class=\"\">577 people).<\/span><span class=\"\"> Notably,<\/span><span class=\"\"> the share of women is particularly high in large cities\u2014Tbilisi and Kutaisi\u2014where it reaches <\/span><b class=\"\" data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"200\">54%<\/b><span class=\"\">.<\/span><span class=\"\"> The vast majority of the population,<\/span> <b class=\"\" data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"242\">62%<\/b><span class=\"\">,<\/span><span class=\"\"> is concentrated in urban settlements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\"><span class=\"\">The capital remains the most densely populated area\u2014<\/span><b class=\"\" data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"52\">1,331,485<\/b> people live in Tbilisi, which is <b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"95\">34%<\/b> of the entire population. Among the regions, Imereti and Kvemo Kartli lead, collectively housing nearly a quarter of the country\u2019s population, while Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti remains the least populated region.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bm.ge\/news\/saqartvelos-mosakhleoba-39-milioni-adamiania-mat-shoris-257000-utskhoelia-saqstatis-dazustebuli-monatsemebi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BM.GE<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Geostat has published the final results of the 2024 General Population Census, according to which the population of Georgia stands at 3,929,581.
