The new system, which aims to reform patient history-taking, is designed to reduce patient stress before appointments and maximize the quality of diagnosis.

According to the doctor, the vast majority of success in gastroenterological practice relies precisely on a detailed and accurately gathered medical history. However, discussing often “embarrassing” symptoms with strangers in a clinical setting can be stressful for patients, causing many crucial details to be overlooked.

To address this issue, Jaba Zarkua has developed four types of comprehensive digital questionnaires: Upper Gastro, Lower Gastro, Hepatobiliary, and Complete Gastro.

How Will the New System Work?

Prior to the physical appointment at the clinic, medical staff will determine the specific nature of the patient’s issue via a phone call and send them the appropriate electronic questionnaire. Patients can then fill it out from home in a comfortable, stress-free environment.

The main advantages of this new digital model are its simplicity, mobility, and complete automation. Built in a user-friendly HTML format, the questionnaire is fully optimized for mobile devices, eliminating the need to download files or fill them out by hand.

The process is entirely digitized: as soon as the data is submitted, the completed form is automatically saved in the doctor’s personal database as a JSON file.

Furthermore, the system allows patients to upload up to 30 medical documents (PDF files or photos) at the end of the questionnaire. This completely eliminates the need to bring printed lab results to the clinic, as the medical team categorizes and reviews the uploaded documentation before the patient’s visit.

“You fill out the questionnaire thoroughly and with complete focus. The next day, you come to see me, and before I even look into your eyes, I already know your history in such detail as you have never told any doctor before. This will undoubtedly have a positive impact on patient management and treatment outcomes,” states Jaba Zarkua.

To make the system even easier to use, dedicated video instructions have been uploaded to YouTube for patients. According to the doctor’s assessment, this shift lays the groundwork for a new, less stressful, and incomparably more effective era of patient interaction in medicine.

Georgian gastroenterologist Jaba Zarkua is introducing an innovative, fully digital approach to patient management.
