Starting in 2026, the positions of Chief Physician and Institution Head (Director) will be separated in all medical facilities in Uzbekistan. Businessmen with managerial training and proven results will be appointed to the leadership posts.<\/p>\n
According to experts, introducing business principles into management is necessary for efficiency and resource optimization. Over the last five years, more than $623 million has been invested in Uzbekistan’s healthcare sector to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment. However, it has been noted that the expensive technology is currently being used at only 25% capacity.<\/p>\n
The appointment of business managers aims to solve this problem by:<\/p>\n
Effective Resource Utilization: The new leaders will ensure the full operation of the equipment and the rational management of expenses.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Proactive Work: Managers will be obliged to work with clear plans, including traveling to regions to study the causes of morbidity on the ground, introducing new treatment methods, and ensuring the proper organization of preventive measures.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The reforms also extend to the medical education system. Starting from the next academic year, general medicine faculties will be opened in specialized higher education institutions, combining the directions of pediatrics and therapeutic work (medical affairs).<\/p>\n
Furthermore, support for the healthcare sector will continue: from 2026, benefits on the import of medical equipment will be extended for another three years, and entrepreneurs will be allocated a preferential credit line amounting to $200 million.<\/p>\n
