The long-standing protest by parents of children diagnosed with achondroplasia, demanding funding and access to medication, concluded with the introduction of the drug Vosoritide to the country and the launch of a state program. Today, the medication is already delivering the specific results for which the parents fought.
Makuna Gochiashvili shared her son’s two-year progress on social media. Since starting the treatment, the child has grown a total of 10 centimeters. As it turns out, the process is dynamic: the growth was 3 cm in the first 12 months, while in the last year, the figure increased to 7 cm.
“His head circumference even decreased slightly (which surprised the doctor), and his limbs are noticeably catching up with his torso,” notes Makuna Gochiashvili.
The two-year dynamics of the treatment demonstrate that the drug not only ensures a significant increase in growth rate but also promotes proportional body development.
