Donald Trump Presents National Medals to Elon Musk and Other Tech Leaders

US President Donald Trump presented the nation’s highest honors to leaders of some of America’s largest technology companies. The event, titled “Science: The New Golden Age,” was held at the US Institute of Peace in Washington, with the White House describing it as the beginning of a “golden age” of American science.

As part of the ceremony, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, received the National Medal of Science for his contributions to innovation, space exploration, and technological advancement. According to Trump, the awards recognize individuals who help the United States maintain its global leadership in innovation.

“We are living in an era of American wonders and technological achievements. With the help of these brilliant people, we will always remain at the forefront. You will go down in history as great people,” Trump said during the awards ceremony.

Other Award Recipients

In addition to Elon Musk, the National Medal of Science was presented to:

  • Sergey Brin — co-founder of Google;
  • Jensen Huang — CEO of Nvidia;
  • Lisa Su — CEO of AMD.

Meanwhile, the National Medal of Technology and Innovation was awarded to Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, and Michael Dell, founder of Dell.

The event also highlighted the importance of immigration in developing America’s scientific potential. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang noted that he had come to the United States as an immigrant to pursue the American Dream and described the award as a special honor.

Alongside the awards ceremony, the White House announced new scientific initiatives. Leading American artificial intelligence companies committed resources worth $2.4 billion to federal agencies working on quantum algorithms, physical laboratories, and nuclear engineering. A new partnership between NASA and the Department of Energy was also announced, focusing on the use of nuclear technologies in space exploration.
