The publication OncoDaily, in celebration of Women’s Equality Day and in line with tradition, has published its list of the “100 Most Influential Women in Oncology.” This initiative aims to showcase outstanding female leaders working in the field of oncology worldwide, whose work significantly impacts cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
The women featured on the list are international leaders, researchers, advocates, and policymakers who are actively working in this area. The list includes such important figures as:
- First Ladies and Ministers of Health who lead cancer control programs and initiatives at the national and global levels.
- For example, Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, the First Lady of Uzbekistan and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the International Public Foundation, is a leading supporter of global initiatives in pediatric oncology.
- The main goal of Ziroat Mirziyoyeva’s work in pediatric oncology is to increase cancer cure rates in developing countries. At the national level, Mirziyoyeva ensures Uzbekistan’s strategy aligns with global goals to achieve a 60% cure rate for childhood cancer by 2030.
- Leading researchers and physicians from major medical centers in the United States and other countries, who lead clinical trials, develop new treatment methods (immunotherapy, precision medicine), and specialize in various types of cancer (melanoma, gynecological, urological, and others).
- Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of major charitable and non-profit organizations (e.g., Cancer Research UK, The Max Foundation), who fund research and ensure access to medication.
- Global health advocates focused on improving cancer care systems, and increasing equity and accessibility in developing countries.
The goal of the initiative is to highlight the work of these women and provide inspiration for future leaders.
