From February 22 to 25 of this year, the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI 2026) was held in Denver, USA. This event is widely considered the year’s premier forum in the field of HIV/AIDS research.
Georgian researchers, who are part of the large-scale project “HIV Threat Assessment in the Republic of Georgia”—supported by the U.S. Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR)—presented their findings at the conference.
The following leading specialists from the Center were invited to participate:
-
Akaki Abutidze (Principal Investigator);
-
Otar Chokoshvili (Researcher);
-
Natia Dvali and Marika Karchava (Virologists/Researchers);
-
Revaz Mechurchlishvili (Research Coordinator).
The data obtained through this study is of significant practical value for improving the effectiveness of treatment for patients living with HIV/AIDS. The project’s results are highly relevant both for Georgia and the broader regional context, garnering significant interest from international scientific circles.
International partnerships of this caliber facilitate the exchange of expertise and the implementation of modern standards in disease management.
