Seasonal flu free vaccination has begun in Georgia. According to the Ministry of Health, within the framework of the State Immunization Program, the country purchased 200,000 doses of the French-made, WHO-recommended, quadrivalent vaccine (“Vaxigrip Tetra“).
Seasonal flu vaccination is one of the most effective ways to protect against the influenza virus. Although the flu is often considered a mild illness, it can become serious and even life-threatening, particularly in high-risk groups.
Vaccination significantly reduces the risk of hospitalization, severe complications (such as pneumonia, myocarditis, encephalitis), and death due to the flu, ensuring the protection of your and your loved ones’ health throughout the season.
Vaccination is especially important for individuals who are at high risk of developing severe flu. These groups include young children (from 6 months), the elderly (over 65), pregnant women, and people with chronic illnesses (for example, asthma, diabetes, heart disease).
The vaccination is available at medical facilities and polyclinics that provide vaccination services, starting from the age of six months, and is completely free for all beneficiaries. The vaccine is tailored to the strains expected during the season.
