An award ceremony for the winners of the HealthTech AI Hackathon, where innovative IT solutions created for the healthcare sector were presented, was held in the city of Nukus, Uzbekistan. The event was attended by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan. She emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering digital innovations within the healthcare sector.

According to Mirziyoyeva, the hackathon united over 300 participants from 44 teams—young medical professionals and representatives of the technological sphere worked together to develop innovative solutions for the medicine of the future.

“The hackathon participants are driven by the desire to use digital tools to save lives, improve diagnostics, and develop more accessible treatment methods. Many of them did not come for the prizes – they are here because they have seen the pain of their loved ones and want to create innovations that can change lives,” stated Mirziyoyeva.

Mirziyoyeva stressed that these projects should be funded and developed in the future; they need refinement and assistance in attracting investors. She also noted with satisfaction that 40% of the participants were young women who boldly presented their ideas and created unique products.

The initiative is part of the National AI Hackathon Project, which is planned to cover all regions of Uzbekistan by the end of 2026. Within the framework of this large-scale plan, Saida Mirziyoyeva spoke about the country’s healthcare sector digital transformation project at UZINFOCOM on October 17.

Mirziyoyeva shared information on her Telegram channel that the digital transformation initiative for the healthcare sector will gradually automate key processes in medical institutions. One of the main goals of the project is to integrate all patient health data (from various clinics and sources) into a unified electronic database.

This new system is expected to simplify and improve work at all levels of medical institutions. Mirziyoyeva is confident in the project’s success:

“I am confident that if the project is implemented according to plan, everyone will benefit – both doctors and medical personnel, as well as the entire society.”
