On March 27, Tbilisi State University (TSU) will host the International Scientific Symposium: “Translational Neuroscience – From Bench to Bedside.” The event is dedicated to the memory of the eminent Georgian scientist, Academician Vazha Okujava.
The symposium will take place in the 1st Building of TSU (Auditorium 115) and will feature leading specialists from Sweden, Austria, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. The working language of the event is English.
Event Program
The event will be opened by the Rector of TSU, Academician Jaba Samushia, the President of the National Academy of Sciences, Roin Metreveli, and the Minister of Health, Mikheil Sarjveladze. In the introductory session, Professor Mikheil Okudjava will discuss the life of Vazha Okudjava and his monumental contributions to science.
As part of the scientific sessions, world-class scientists will present reports on current issues in neuroscience:

Stem Cells and Gene Therapy: Professors Merab Kokaia, Zaal Kokaia (Lund University), and Matthew Walker (UCL) will discuss modern methods for treating epilepsy and pathways for restoring neural connections.

Pediatric Neurology: Professor Helen Cross (UCL) will review advancements in the management of childhood epilepsies.

Cognition and Environment: Swiss Professor Henrik Jockait will focus on social cognition and environmental perception in epilepsy.
The symposium is organized by Professors Dimitri Kordzaia, Merab Kokaia, and members of the Okudjava family. The event serves as an important platform for Georgian and international scientists to share expertise and implement laboratory achievements into clinical practice.
