During the presentation of his annual report, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze addressed Parliament about the new Minister of Health and the decisions he has made. In this context, he also mentioned the issue of the Republic Hospital, noting that the hospital’s entire territory may potentially be used for its expansion.
“Once again, I would like to thank the Minister of Health for his very active and dynamic communication, both with representatives of the medical field and with patients, on various important issues directly related to their interests.
I would like to recall the issue of the Republic Hospital, which was ultimately resolved by taking into account the interests and recommendations of the hospital staff. The main point here was that these recommendations were well-argued and well-founded, and as a result, we made the decision to construct a new Republic Hospital on the rear section of the site. The design is expected to be completed by the end of the year, after which construction will begin.
We had discussed that the front section would be used for an investment project, but deliberations on this matter should continue. It is not excluded that the entire territory of the Republic Hospital could be used for the hospital’s expansion or for the addition of a university facility,” Kobakhidze stated.
