A 30-year-old woman has died in the village of Kardenakhi, in Georgia’s Gurjaani Municipality, reportedly after consuming homemade canned eggplant. According to local outlet Main News from Kakheti, citing residents, the incident occurred yesterday evening.
Reports indicate that the woman fell ill shortly after consuming the product. Emergency medical services first transported her to a hospital in Gurjaani and later transferred her to an infectious diseases clinic in Tbilisi. Despite medical efforts, doctors were unable to save her.
Symptoms of intoxication have also been reported in the deceased woman’s husband and child, who are currently undergoing treatment in Tbilisi. The exact cause of death will be determined by a forensic examination.
