The III International Scientific Conference, “Medical Tourism in the 21st Century: Sustainable Models and Latest Practices,” has opened in Tashkent. The event, organized by the Tourism Development Research Institute and supported by the Ministries of Health and Tourism, aims to solidify Uzbekistan’s image as a regional medical tourism hub.
The conference has gathered scientists, healthcare experts, and business representatives from more than 10 countries, including India, Kazakhstan, Malta, and Turkey. Participants are discussing issues covering innovative technologies (Artificial Intelligence, telemedicine), personalized medicine, ecological standards, and personnel training.
Conference attendees unanimously highlighted the boom in medical tourism and Uzbekistan’s growing potential. Ibrahim Alatash, Associate Professor at Beykent University (Turkey), openly stated that their goal is to “help Uzbekistan become a medical hub in Asia” and attract foreign patients to the country.
Zhaloliddin Asamutdinov, Director of the Licensing and Accreditation Center, confirmed that thanks to systemic reforms, foreign patients’ interest in Uzbek clinics is steadily increasing.
Within the framework of the conference, memorandums of cooperation were signed, and a specialized exhibition, “Medical Tourism: Innovations and Trends,” was opened. Participants view the conference as a crucial step toward positioning Uzbekistan as a modern and open international medical tourism center.
