There is significant news in the medical field of Georgia and the Caucasus region. Helisicor clinic is the first in the region to offer patients Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA), the most modern and safest method for treating arrhythmia. With the support of Boston Scientific, the first successful procedures using this technology have already been performed in Georgia.
Until now, traditional methods for treating arrhythmia involved Radiofrequency Ablation (thermal “burning”) or Cryoablation (“freezing”). Despite their effectiveness, both methods are based on extreme temperatures, which increases the risk of accidental damage to surrounding structures (such as the esophagus, nerves, and blood vessels).
The main advantage of Pulsed Field Ablation lies in its maximum safety, as the technology does not use temperature at all. Instead, it operates using short, micro- and nanosecond electrical impulses that purposefully destroy only the source of the arrhythmia, leaving neighboring organs completely unharmed.
Numerous studies have confirmed that PFA is much more tissue-selective than traditional thermal methods, ensuring high procedural precision and rapid patient recovery. The intervention itself is significantly shorter, allowing individuals to return to their normal rhythm of life in minimal time.
“We have been planning the implementation of this technology for a long time, and with the support of the ‘Helsicor’ clinic, it is now possible; we have become pioneers not only in Georgia but in the entire Caucasus,” members of the medical team stated.
